Central to an effective cleanup program is the ability to build effective project management teams that are capable of making informed risk management decisions. The USAEC developed the Principles of Environmental Restoration (PER) Workshop to provide more streamlined and direct assistance to Army installations on specific issues, especially decision based planning. A key to building effective project management teams is understanding regional partnering processes and regional political and regulatory issues. The US Army Regional Environmental Offices (REOs) provide support to the Army and its installations to rapidly respond to and resolve environmental issues that might adversely affect military operations, to include cleanup activities.
